At the heart of Heritage Farm Foundation’s mission is a commitment to the preservation of ‘heritage’ breed farm animals. The Livestock Conservancy defines heritage breeds as “the breeds of a bygone era, before industrial agriculture became a mainstream practice.”
A vast majority of these historic livestock breeds are considered critically endangered.
One of the future goals for Wildwoods Farm is to help in the preservation effort of these historic breeds by carefully choosing, raising and breeding these animals to preserve them for future generations. The 4 acre farm is a size that will support small animal breeds like chickens, ducks and turkeys while future farm project with more acreage can take on bigger breeds like goats and cows.
Our goals are dependent on raising funding and having enough volunteers to care for the animals. If you would like to help be part of the team. Please contact us!
